BIO
Austin oversees the organization’s overall financial matters and advises the Board on financial strategy and fundraising. Together, they collaborate with community members and organizations to help Veterans reconnect with themselves through outdoor adventures, recreation, and fitness activities in Northern California. The older of two children, Austin, immigrated to the United States from Myanmar (Burma) in 1989. Having witnessed first-hand the opportunities this country has given to his parents; Austin felt a sense of duty to serve his country and enlisted into the United States Navy in 2002 after the tragic events of 9/11.
After his enlistment, he received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from California State University, Sacramento in 2012 and a Master’s in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2016. Austin currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Veterans Success at Sac State, where he helps veterans access their VA education benefits. He enjoys being outdoors in nature and loves being out on the water. He is a certified scuba diver and enjoys paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, and snowboarding in his off time.
Austin lives with his wife Shannon and their Westie Hudson in Folsom, California.
