MTB Campout 2026


Location: Nevada City, California - Scott's Flat Lake Campground

Dates: June 5-7


Join us for a full weekend of mountain biking, camping, and connection in the beautiful Northern California mountains. Disconnect to Reconnect is hosting this year’s MTB Campout at Scotts Flat Lake Campground. This is a unique campground where Veterans can ride the Nevada City Trail system, relax, and spend time outdoors with others who share similar experiences.


Whether you’re brand new to mountain biking or have years of experience, this event welcomes all skill levels. Expect a mix of fun rides, supportive learning, and shared meals with good people.


Weekend Overview

Friday – Arrival and Optional Ride

Arrive, Set Up Camp, Ride, Dinner, Hang Out. Dinner will be shared that evening, followed by introductions and an overview of the weekend.

Saturday – Skills and Trail Riding

The morning will kick off with a skills clinic fit for beginners and more advanced riders, followed by trail rides for all levels. LUNCH. In the afternoon, we’ll continue riding and include a more advanced cornering clinic. After the ride, we’ll gather back at camp for dinner and downtime.

Sunday – Ride and Departure

Skills Clinics Presented by A Singletrack Mind

MTB Fundamentals Clinic - Morning

Build confidence and efficiency on the bike in this 2-hour clinic focused on essential mountain biking skills. This session is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced riders looking to refine their technique.

What you’ll learn:

  • Bike setup and body positioning

  • Balance and braking control

  • Gear selection

  • Bike-body separation

  • Foundational skills and drills

Cornering Clinic - Afternoon Session

This session focuses specifically on improving your cornering and switchback skills. This clinic will help you ride smoother, faster, and with more control on the trail.

What you’ll learn:

  • Corner types and how to approach them

  • Proper setup and line choice

  • Vision and looking ahead

  • Slow-speed and high-speed cornering

  • Riding switchbacks with confidence


What to Bring

This is a camping event. Please make sure to bring:

  • Camping Gear: Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp chair, etc

  • Riding gear: helmet, gloves, hydration pack, shoes, bike, etc

  • Warm layers for cool mornings and evenings

  • Snacks, water, and hydration mix

  • Anything you'd like to share at meal times (drinks, sides, dessert, etc.)


Shared meals will be provided throughout the weekend, but we encourage everyone to bring something small to add to the table and contribute to the group.


If you need a bike or camping gear, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to help.


Mike's Bikes

Mike's Bikes will be back to support our group! We will have a Fleet of Mountain Bikes out for new riders and veterans wanting to try an e-bike. It's amazing to have this type of support, and we are so grateful for the support of Sacramento's Mikes Bikes.


All Skill Levels Welcome

All Veterans are welcome to join, regardless of experience. We’ll have riding options and guidance for beginners, as well as challenging rides for intermediate and advanced riders. Everyone rides at their own pace. The goal is to enjoy the outdoors, support each other, and have a great time.


Code of Conduct

Disconnect to Reconnect events are grounded in respect and community. We ask all participants to:

  • Be kind and supportive of others

  • Respect that everyone is on their own journey

  • Understand that some riders may be managing PTSD, physical limitations, or recovery

  • D2R does not provide alcohol, Avoid any unsafe behavior or over-intoxication

  • Anyone who creates an unsafe or disrespectful environment will be asked to leave and may not be invited to future events.
